Article: Tads 961

Covered bulk freight wagons with controlled gravity unloading and four wheelsets. These wagons are suitable for transporting bulk goods that need to be protected from the weather. Example cargoes are quartz sand, dolomite, anthracite, gypsum stone, lime, wood pellets, petroleum coke, kaolin and paraffin. Loading takes place via a one-part lateral sliding roof. They are equipped with a trackside discharge device that allows for controlled unloading of the freight. Some of the wagons are equipped with special seals on the discharge chutes for transporting quartz sand.

Additional information:

The wagons of type Tads 961 have been created by re-designating the type Tads 958. The wagon is used for transporting fine-grained, moisture-sensitive bulk goods, especially quartz sand, due to its special slide seal. The transport of coarse-grained or angular, heavy goods (e.g. gravel, slag, ballast) is not permitted due to possible damage to the inner coating.

The underframe is a welded structure made of rolled steel sections and sheet metal and is welded to the wagon body. The hopper-shaped wagon body consists of four hoppers and is a welded structure. The hoppers are separated by transverse walls and have a slope of 48°. Inside, the wagon body is coated with epoxy resin.

The wagon is emptied via eight individually operable sliding gates. The sliding gates can be locked at 25 mm intervals. There is a fixed and a folding discharge chute under each sliding gate.

Loading is only permitted via the opening roof from above-ground bunkers or using conveyor belts. Loading or unloading using grabs is not permitted.

The wagon is equipped with a single-shell lifting-swivelling roof. When closed, the roof is secured against unintentional shifting. It is not permitted to move the wagon with the roof open.

Cargo residues may only be removed from the loading or unloading lane by lightly knocking on the outer container walls with a rubber hammer or by using air blow lances in the loading space.

For the operation of the wagons, DV 975/2 must be observed.
